Re: Kray 2.0 RC1 released!
What are the Frost and RenderWorm pixel orders useful for? I mean, they look cool, they seem to work well... But why were they added? What's their benefit?

Just a word of warning that there are some G5 specific bugs with kray, which I cannot say whether they will be fixed in the GM version of 1.7. So my advise to anybody wishing to use Kray on the Mac would be to use a Intel Mac, as I cannot guarantee that Kray on a PPC machine will have parity with t...

Well, despite Captain Obvious' apparent difficult-to-impress nature (;)), in particular the T-Rex and the sci-fi greebles scenes seem pretty quick to me. The T-Rex is lit by one of the more contrasty HDR environments, and the sci-fi scene...well, I've been trying to render a somewhat similar scene o...

That technique doesn't but here's one that does (and, depending on your goals, might work better): Set up the surface to be 0% transparent, 0.01% luminous. In the node editor, connect a Refraction node to Specular Shading. Add a KrayIndirectRays shader and put the Multiply value at 100 times your in...

Learning from other scenes is a good starting point, but even Kray settings ought to be fine-tuned to your own scene. Lighting too you can learn from other scenes, but here's a tip. It might sound sarcastic or obvious, but here's the thing; to brighten a scene, add more light. Make your environment ...

Just a theory: You might have thought it helped since you used very low numbers of photons and since they are shoot random from time to time, you got lucky after you turned on occlusion and rerendered the leak was gone. Precache blur might also increase problems with more leaks in corners so i usua...

Occlusionsettings in lw wount do anything in Kray. Setting paths=1 will tace care of lightleaks in corners. Well, when I was doing tests of this scene I was using paths = 2, and oversampling...and was getting a strange light leak until I turned on Occlusion in Render Globals. That was the only chan...
