As long as you have Opengl/shaded solid turned on there shouldnt be a problem but we are aware of a bug that sometimes causes reflective materials to render without smoothing and we are working on a fix for it.

Just make a habit of turning your cameraview to shadedsolid, textureshadedsolid or textureshadedsolidwireframe and you'll have no problems.

Third party render plugins take data from the open-gl viewport. That's why.

Which is also why Kray renders the viewport setting for subdivision level, rather than the render setting.

Although it used to switch the values just before rendering so it effectively rendered the render setting, although this seems to be broken for OB3.
