Re: Compositing in live video?
here's an old test I did with syntheyes.... the track is a little off because of rolling shutter, but the main exercise was getting scene reflections onto the CG object the video explains the process somewhat https://vimeo.com/95061758 it appears the vimeo link tags on this forum dont work 95061758

Re: BARCO Projection
if you can.... find the spec of the projector and playback device. if they are using 4 projectors together, its a good bet it is 4k at least... 20 m is just under the standard IMAX size (about 22m) 70mm IMAX film is about 4k+ in terms of resolution Barco only has 2, 12000 lumen projectors listed in ...

Re: Octane Bottles
there have been a handful of GPU photon mappers already written...here is one example https://vimeo.com/81835028 https://github.com/ishaan13/PhotonMapper Nowhere near as complex as Kray code for sure....but basic photon mapping accelerated by the GPU with the K/D tree calculated by the CPU some Octa...

Re: Octane Bottles
Idea of Bounce light should be the same in Path Tracing and Photon Map - otherwise is not according to physics. not arguing the laws of physics....just that the bounces for 1 are interpolated and using 1 path...and PT using multiple paths (1 per sample). Nothing to do with physics. The most importa...

Re: Octane Bottles
Rendering interior must be done with minimum 7-10 bounce light and each bounce light for Path Tracing is killer for time render. Trying render interior with recurse under 5 affect realism. The bounce for PT and the bounce for photon mapping are 2 totally different things. The bounce for photon mapp...

Re: Octane Bottles
I tweaked your render settings for you....
totally noiseless image with only 75% of the samples you used and using the faster kernel...should render in half the time
Coherent ratio...GI clamp and caustic blur are the keys here

Re: Octane quick test-drive
....2 bounce only I think 5-10 bounces is minium for rendering, under this, GI is artificial. btw very good score but as I told above: when you will add full scale interior: more bounce lights, reflection/blur, lights, Sun Light then the noise will be forever  Anyway you have two good GPU car...

Re: Octane quick test-drive
Just one more for a comparison Octane 14min 10 sec 3500 samples 5 bounce path tracing, 25% coherent ratio Octane Daylight Still some noise....probably would need 4500 samples to be totally clean. This is where Photon mapping would be great, as the path tracing results is exponential in nature.... ta...

Re: Octane quick test-drive
judging by the octane bench...your combined score is around 209, whereas mine is about 166...about 79% the power of yours
so if the bench is accurate you should be able to do 3000 samples with your setup in about 2:55

Re: Octane quick test-drive
3000 samples....2 bounce only (trying to match kray image shadows)
key is coherent ratio to 30% (only good for stills...10% possible with animations using thousands of samples)
hot pixel viz 60%
filter 1.3
